Voice Over Talent
Providing an unseen voice behind the music and pictures of a television ad is perhaps the most common example of what a voice over talent is hired to do. In the earliest days of radio, the term voice over was used to describe the reading of a script “over” live music that was mixed to a background level. The same technique was used in the formative years of television as most of commercials were done live.
Voice over talent for animation
Voice actors with a knack for creating characters and “cartoon voices” find work in the animation industry including feature films, television, computer and video games and live exhibits at theme parks.
Other organizations that use voice over talent include business producers of training and sales promotion materials, religious, educational and non-profit entities who produce informational media and the telecom industry who require professional voices for interactive phone prompts.
